Spray by the Bay Spray Park

The Spray by the Bay Spray Park is located inside the Bay City State Park and is a great place for kids to cool off and have fun!
The Bay City State Park is a 2,389 acre area which attracts people with varying interests.  You are invited to visit for camping, hiking, biking, walking, running, picnics, bird watching, swimming, spray park, nature studies, fishing, concerts, playground. as well as relaxing.  Enjoy and learn at the Saginaw Bay Visitor Center which is the home of the Jennison Exhibit Hall, the Wetland Wonders Gift Shop, rotating  interpretive displays, audio-visual presentations, learning labs, workshop/meeting rooms and a glass wildlife observation room.

Utilize seven miles of multi-use trails that consist of the Andersen Rail Trail and other trails which take you through forests and to wildlife observation towers in Tobico Marsh, the largest Great Lakes coastal marsh. Barrier free trails also go to the shore of the Saginaw Bay, to picnic shelters and to the Visitor Center. The parks trails are also part of four larger trails systems - the Bay County Riverwalk/Railtrail system, the Saginaw Bay Birding Trail, the Saginaw Bay Blueways Water Trail, and the Iron Belle Trail. During the summer, take advantage of the Spray by the Bay splash park ...the Play by the Bay playscape is open year-round. The park has 3 wi-fi hot spots (Visitor Center, Spray Park, and Campground Host site) and is the only Michigan state park with an Electric Vehicle rapid-charging station, located by the Visitor Center.

Cross country skiing and ice fishing are the most popular winter activities! And yes, you may camp here year around at the 192 site campground. And lets not forget summertime Archery in the Park ...a youth group educational archery program.  So much to see and so much to do year around!

The "Friends of Bay City State Park" is a non-profit organization which was established in 1995. (It was originally incorporated as the "Friends of Bay City State Recreation Area"). Its purpose is to provide educational and recreational opportunities to people visiting the Park.  The Friends Group is composed of concerned citizens who want to support environmental education and help promote our area as a valuable community resource.  In order to achieve these goals, we depend on your support through donations, memberships and volunteer help.

The Friends and the Parks and Recreation Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources have a unique partnership.  As a support organization for the Park, the Friends group sponsors projects and provides services which supplement and compliment those offered by the Parks Division of the DNR.
