Interpretive programs are presented by DNR staff throughout the Recreation Area. Programs covering ecological topics, the local flora, fauna and the history of the area are available for school groups, organizations and the general public.
- This program provides teachers with field trip opportunities that helps extend the students into the outdoors and puts them in touch with Michigan’s Natural, historical, and cultural resources. These programs usually include an indoor presentation followed by an outdoor interactive, field exploration

Many of the programs, events, and projects affiliated with the Bay City State Recreation Area exist due to the donations received by the FriendsofPark.org organization.
